Dr. Anthony Loomis

Medical Director


Originally from Scotch Plains, Dr. Anthony Loomis attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a B.S. degree in Animal Health in 2001. Following graduation, he was admitted to Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine on scholarship from the state of New Jersey and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

 

During his four years as an undergraduate student and his four years in veterinary school, Dr. Loomis was recognized for his academic excellence; he was inducted into the University of Georgia Honor Society, made Dean's List, and was added to the president's honor roll. At Oklahoma State University, he was inducted into the National Veterinary Honor Society, made honor roll, and received the World Animal Care Foundation Award for promoting the human and animal bond.

 

With professional interests in exotic animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Loomis is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. Now living in South Plainfield, Dr. Loomis has been practicing general veterinary medicine and surgery at Plainfield Animal Hospital since May 2005 and also provides housecall services to clients wishing to care for their pets in the comfort of their home.

 

Dr. Loomis and his wife, Michelle, have a son named Rocco, a daughter named Emma, and 2 dogs (Munchkin and Surf). During his leisure time, Dr. Loomis enjoys sports and relaxing with family and friends at the Jersey Shore.

Dr. Sachina Lyons

Veterinarian


Dr. Sachina Lyons grew up in the city of Plainfield where she started her love of animals as a Veterinary Technician at the Plainfield Animal Hospital.  She attended Cornell University where she earned a B.S. in Animal Science.  After college she was accepted at The University of Florida where she was awarded her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1997.


She has worked as a mixed animal Veterinarian in Florida, as a small animal practitioner at The Fanwood Animal Hospital, and at The Clementon Animal Hospital where she served as the Chief of Staff.  She has interests in pain management and soft tissue surgery.


Dr. Lyons also enjoys spending time with her husband and son.  Her furry family includes a dog and 2 cats; Josie, Herky-Jerky, and P.C.  She enjoys Zumba exercising, making movies with imovie, and playing the piano.


Dr. Fein

Veterinarian


Dr. Kenneth Fein joined Plainfield Animal Hospital in the fall of 2014, having sold his Small Animal Practice in Connecticut where he practiced for almost 35 years. He grew up in Livingston, NJ and graduated from NYU in 1970 with a BA in History and Economics. Moving out west after graduation he found his calling to practice veterinary medicine and graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master’s degree in Neurophysiology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. A member of the Phi Zeta honor society he then completed an internship at the Oradell Animal Hospital and a subsequent Surgical Residency from the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 1984.

 

He is licensed to practice in the tristate area and he is experienced in both medicine and surgery in small animals. He now resides in NYC with his wife, Cathy and their Golden Retriever, Gandalf. His three children are all out of the house with interests in art, fashion, film and art history and a love of animals. Dr. Fein’s outside interests include tennis, the arts, photography and history. He still remains passionate about practicing veterinary medicine.


Dr. Caitlin Belding

Veterinarian


Dr. Caitlin Belding grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina before moving to Woodstown, New Jersey. Her love of animals grew with their family’s cats, dogs, and horses. She worked as a technician at her local veterinary clinic through her undergraduate education. She received a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science from Cook College, Rutgers University where she graduated Cum Laude and as a part of the George H. Cook Honors Program.

 

After graduation, Dr. Belding attended Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in West Lafayette, Indiana. She participated in various academic organizations while at Purdue and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After graduating, Dr. Belding completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ. She has a special interest in feline medicine as well as surgery.

 

At home, Dr. Belding enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family, and her two cats, Pearl and Alice. Her favorite activities include travelling, horseback riding, reading, and cooking.


Dr. Isabel Perez

Veterinarian


Dr. Isabel Perez has returned! Dr. Perez began her career at Plainfield Animal Hospital 23 years ago and is excited to be back working with former colleagues and patients. She continues to be the shelter vet for the Union Township animal shelter and is also the Medical Director at our sister hospital, All Creatures Great and Small in Fairfield, NJ.

 

Dr. Perez’s veterinary medicine interests include: dermatology, canine and feline medicine, exotics (birds, reptiles, rabbits), and surgery. She is certified in ultrasound and stem cell therapy. She also has a special interest in geriatric medicine and end-of-life care, behavioral issues, and nutrition.

 

Dr. Perez says, “Being a vet is very rewarding for me. I am so thankful to be able to bond with my patients and their humans. We are given the opportunity to make a great impact on the human-animal bond.” She enjoys working with and has extensive experience with bully breeds and other large breeds such as Dobermans and German Shepherds. She also enjoys working with cats.

 

Dr. Perez received her BS in animal science at Cook College, Rutgers University and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. She was born in Cuba and grew up in Union City, NJ. She is bilingual and fluent in Spanish.

 

When not in the office, Dr. Perez takes care of her “extended family”, which includes: 3 dogs, 1 cat, a rabbit, a horse, a parrot, a Red Eared slider, and 4 Koi! She also works very closely with several rescue and foster groups. Helping animals in need is very dear to her heart!


Dr. Deepali Herlekar

Veterinarian


Dr. Deepali Herlekar joined the medical team at Plainfield Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in August 2018. Before joining our team, Dr. Herlekar worked at Banfield- East Brunswick where she was also an associate veterinarian.

 

Dr. Herlekar is most interested in ophthalmology, internal medicine, preventative medicine and geriatric medicine. Dr. Herlekar says what she likes most about being a veterinarian is being able to help all kinds of animals and preserving the human-animal bond.

 

Dr. Herlekar is originally from Mumbai, India. She attended Bombay Veterinary College in India from 1997-2002. She also has a M.S. degree in Physiology from Penn State University. 

 

When not at the hospital, Dr. Herlekar enjoys cooking, hiking, reading and watching movies. She also cares for her dog and cat.


Receptionists


Our receptionists are the customer service experts of Plainfield Animal Hospital. They greet clients, answer questions, provide general information, answer phones, schedule appointments, enter data into the computer, process payments, and manage the medical records. They all have compassion for animals and their owners and provide the comfort that they both sometimes need.


Technicians


Our technicians have a broad knowledge of animal science and husbandry. They assist in exam rooms, take radiographs (x-rays), perform lab tests, monitor hospitalized patients, assist in surgery, and perform dental cleanings. Our knowledgeable and experienced team of technicians is dedicated to providing compassionate care to all of our patients.
